About HaikuSnack

Like many of you, we love haikus. They’re fun to write, challenging too. We also love pop culture, news, history, politics, music, tv, movies, food, and pets — anything and everything, really.

Our fondness of haikus and interest in AI tools like ChatGPT are why we created HaikuSnack. We choose random topics then we write several haikus about it. We also write subject-based prompts that we provide to ChatGPT. Based on all of that we ask ChatGPT to write 50+ additional haikus. We then curate and publish them (usually, at least a few of our originals make the cut).

We want to entertain by publishing haikus on subjects and topics about which haikus have likely not been written before. We try to follow the traditional haiku format of 17 syllables, in three lines of 5,7,and 5 syllables, respectively. At times, we take liberty with the rule that a haiku conveys a single emotive experience or event. Sometimes we write a collection of haikus (10-20) about a particular subject, telling a story. While this isn’t the correct way, we are learning and experimenting with AI, poetry, and storytelling. Independently, some of the verses in our collections would not be considered haikus.

This all started with a few haikus we wrote about Velveeta cheese. Through trial and error, we learned how to phrase prompts that helped make haikus about a specific subject more entertaining and interesting. We still have a long way to go, but we’re getting better each day.

Our goal is to have fun and to share some haikus that you enjoy enough to like on social media and hopefully share with your friends.

If you’ve read this far and would like to share some of your own haikus here, we’d love that and will credit you appropriately. If you don’t have any to share, but wish someone would write haikus about your favorite band, restaurant, movie, or anything at all, get in touch. We’ll absolutely create some for you.
